    EU RoHS/ELV Compliance Definitions

    ELV Compliant
    End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC requires that certain automotive products be free (except for trace impurities) of mercury, cadmium and lead as of 2003-7-1. Lead can still be used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum and in solderable applications. These products comply with the ELV directive.

    EU RoHS Compliant
    Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC requires that certain electrical and electronic products be free (except for trace impurities) of mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and lead as of 2006-7-1. Certain exemptions are allowed such as lead used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum. These products comply with the EU RoHS directive. These products also comply with the ELV directive. Note that as of July 1, 2008 products that are shown as RoHS compliant do not contain decabromodiphenyl ether.

    EU RoHS/Not ELV Compliant
    These products comply with the Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC but NOT the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC. These products utilize exemptions in the EU RoHS Directive that are not allowed in the ELV Directive. Typical examples are lead in compliant pin connector systems (pressfit connectors) and cadmium in electrical contacts.

However, these products may be suitable for use in EU RoHS applications where there is a product based exemption for lead in solders, such as the server, storage, or network infrastructure exemption.

    Not ELV or EU RoHS Compliant
    These products do not comply with the Restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances (EU RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC or the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC. This means that these products contain lead or other materials that are restricted in these directives. Consequently, they SHOULD NOT be used in any application requiring EU RoHS or ELV compliance.

    Not in Scope of EU RoHS, ELV or EU RoHS/ELV Directives

Customers should verify this assessment prior to use.

    Halogen Content Definitions

    Low Halogen
    These products contain less than 900 ppm of each Bromine, Chlorine, Fluorine, and Iodine per homogenous material. Products also meet the definitions of Low Bromine/Chlorine and BFR/CFR/PVC Free.

    Low Bromine/Chlorine
    These products contain less than 900 ppm of Bromine and Chlorine per homogenous material. May contain Fluorine or Iodine or content of Fluorine or Iodine is unknown. Product also meets definition of BFR/CFR/PVC Free.

    BFR/CFR/PVC Free
    These products contain less than 900 ppm of Bromine and Chlorine in flame retardants or PVC and may contain Bromine and Clorine not in BFR/CFR/PVC; and may also contain Fluorine and Iodine.

    Not Low Halogen
    These products contain Bromine or Chlorine greater than 900 ppm and may also contain Fluorine or Iodine.

    Out of Scope
    These products are specifically excluded from Halogen requirements.
